On the occasion of Earth Day, Pettenon Cosmetics Benefit Company is sharing the first results of its partnership with Ogyre, the world’s first Fishing for Litter network dedicated to ocean conservation through marine litter collection activities supported by the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (Ocean Decade).
This commitment comes during a particularly meaningful year for the company, which celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026, reaffirming a journey in which industrial growth and responsibility are increasingly interconnected. Launched in recent months, the project has already enabled the collection of more than 36,000 kilograms of marine and coastal plastic waste, equivalent to the weight of over 3.6 million 0.5-litre PET bottles, making a tangible contribution to reducing marine pollution.
This achievement forms part of a broader initiative targeting the collection of more than 88,000 kilograms of marine and coastal plastic waste over a two-year period, reflecting Pettenon Cosmetics’ vision of integrating innovation, quality, and responsibility into a business model capable of generating a positive impact.
The partnership with Ogyre is carried out through the global Fishing for Litter programme, which directly engages local fishermen and coastal communities in waste collection activities. The collected materials are then brought ashore, tracked, and sent for recycling or responsible disposal, in compliance with local regulations and with the aim of ensuring the most sustainable end-of-life solution possible.
Alongside waste collection activities, the project also contributes to preventing plastic leakage by operating in areas where waste management systems are less efficient.
The entire process is monitored and tracked through blockchain technology, using verified and certified data to ensure full transparency and real-time traceability of the environmental impact generated.
